PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore Melissa Decesaris scored two second-half goals, including the game-winner with 49 seconds remaining to push Temple (3-0) over nationally ranked William & Mary, 4-3.

"It was awesome to have such a great game against a ranked team," the midfielder from Shavertown, Pa. said.

Senior midfielder Joanne Englestrom put the Owls up early with her third goal of the season just three minutes into the first half. Englestrom, who transferred from Towson University, has scored in each of the Owls three victories. Haley Dervinis and Kacy Ziomek each assisted on the goal.

Katie Silverthorne answered for the Tribe with 21:18 left in the first half to tie the score at one.

Freshman Andrea Duva put the Owls ahead with her second goal of the season. Dervinis assisted on the goal and gave the Owls a 2-1 lead going into the half.

William & Mary's Jordan Steele tied the game with 26:59 left in the second half before Decesaris scored the first of her two second half goals with 23:43 remaining in the half.

Ann Eckberg tied the score at three with 8:14 left in the second half, setting the stage for Decesaris' goal in the final minute.

"This is the best game we've played," head coach Lauren Fuchs said. "We played hard for 70 minutes and just kept plugging away. We just kept fighting."

The Owls next play Sep. 8 at home against Maine in the first round of the Temple Tournament. The game starts at 11 a.m.
