GONZALEZ LIFTS OWLS OVER RAMS

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple senior midfielder Virginia Gonzalez (Reading, Pa/Twin Valley) tallied three first half goals as the Owls defeated Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday, September 30 at Temple's Geasey Field. The victory snapped Temple's five game losing streaks. The raises the Owls' record to 5-5 overall.

Gonzalez opened the scoring with a goal ten minutes in to the goal was assisted by senior forward Juliann Leskiw (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) 10minutes in to the game. Gonzalez added her second and third goals unassisted with 2:17 and 51 seconds remaining in the half.

The Rams scored their only goal in the second half on a penalty corner by sophomore midfielder Nicole Sullivan the goal was assisted by Casey Smith and Emily Mountjoy with 19:28 remaining in the contest.

Temple's senior goalkeeper April Herman Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley had a strong effort posting four saves and recording her fifth win of the season. The Owls defense was spectacular allowing the Rams only five shots on goal.
