PHILADELPHIA -- The Richmond Spiders (9-9, 3-2 A-10) connected on 14 three-point baskets overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit in defeating the Temple Owls (6-11, 3-3 A-10) 75-68 at the Liacouras Center. Richmond's defense held the Owls to just seven second half field goals and 25 percent shooting, outscoring the Owls 44-27 to win their third game in five tries in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The loss to Richmond marked the first time since the 1991-92 season that the Owls have lost three consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference games.

The Owls fell behind early in the game on a Mike Skrocki three-pointer but went on an 11-0 run to take and early eight point lead. Senior Lynn Greer scored six of his 11 first half points to give the Owls the advantage. Richmond itself went on a 14-4 run to take back the lead at 17-16 with 11:19 left before halftime. The Spiders were led by Skrocki who nailed four three-pointers for 12 first-half points. David Hawkins then scored nine straight points as Temple took a 27-20 lead and sophomore Brian Polk added five more as the Owls extended the lead to nine, 32-23. Temple took the lead to 37-26 on a three-point basket by David Hawkins and went into halftime with a 41-31 advantage. The Owls shot a season high 15-for-23 (65.2%) from the field while Hawkins lead the Owls with 12 points and junior Greg Jefferson gave the Owls a lift off the bench chipping in with four points.

With the Owls maintaining a 10-point lead at 50-40 with 14:13 remaining, the Spiders made their run. A three-point basket by Skrocki and his steal lead to a fast-break lay-up by Johnathan Collins to cut the deficit to 50-45. Following a Kevin Lyde putback, the Owls led 60-55 with 6:23 left. Unfortunately for the Owls, it would be their last basket for the evening. A three-pointer by Jeff Myers and a basket by Reggie Brown, who has 23 points, tied the game at 60 with 5:01 left. Another three by Skrocki put Richmond up 62-60 and the Owls never caught up with the Spiders. Down the stretch Richmond would convert 8-for-8 from the charity strip to win in their first game at the Liacouras Center.

Greer and Hawkins led Temple in scoring with 23 points each while senior Kevin Lyde posted eight rebounds. For Richmond, sophomore guard Mike Skrocki broke a career high and lead all scorers with 25 points.

The Owls go on the road to face North Carolina State on EPSN on January 26 at 12:00 p.m.
