TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL BEATS XAVIER TO EXTEND WIN STREAK TO NINE AND REMAIN UNBEATEN IN CONFERENCE PLAY

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team (16-5, 7-0) defeated Xavier (14-8, 5-2) three games to one to remain atop the Atlantic standings with an unblemished 7-0 conference record on October 19 at McGonigle Hall. The game scores were 30-25, 30-23, 28-30 and 30-23 for the Owls who out-hit the Musketeers .289 to .204.

Junior outside hitter Xu Yun led Temple with match-highs of 26 kills and 19 digs. Fellow junior Liu Shu also had a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore setter Alison Runk dished out 52 assists for the Owls.

Katey Wygant led Xavier with 19 kills and 14 digs. Meggie Hoffman added 10 kills and 16 digs while setter Molly Martin had 42 assists for the Musketeers.

Next up for Temple a short road trip to La Salle on Tuesday, October 22 for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Explorers. The Owls will then travel to Rhode Island and New York to face two teams with the same nickname. The Rhode Island Rams on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. and the Fordham Rams on Saturday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.
