TEMPLE FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATS DAVIDSON 2-1 IN OVERTIME

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple field hockey team defeated Davidson (5-6) 2-1 in overtime at Davidson, North Carolina. The win raises the Owls' record to 4-6 and was their third win in a row. Junior Morgan Faria (South Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) scored the game-winning goal, her fourth goal of the season, off an assist from sophomore Andrea Duva (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) with 5:53 into overtime. It was Temple's third win in row and fourth win in last six games.
Freshman Rachel Barber (Millville, NJ. /Millville) scored her first career goal to give the Owls a 1-0 lead with 18:36 remaining n the first half. Temple displayed spectacular defense limiting Davidson to four shots. Temple goalie Erin Conroy (Centereach, NY. /Centereach) had two saves and raised her record to 2-5.
Davidson tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Tiffany Homan with 12:21 remaining in the first half.The 'Cats goalie Sarah Nolan had 11 saves.
Temple (4-6) will visit Virginia Commonwealth (4-5) on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 12 noon.
