VOLLEYBALL TOPS GEORGE WASHINGTON AND REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN ATLANTIC 10 PLAY
10.5.02 | Women's Volleyball
Junior Xu Yun, the reigning conference Player of the Week, smashed 26 kills and hit .468 to lead
Temple and put in a strong bid to repeat the honor.
Ruth Lazzari and Sarah Hokom paced the Colonials with 13 kills each.
Temple (13-5, 5-0 A-10) hit .249 as a team with 68 kills compared to .045 for GW (43 kills).
After a pair of classic battles in games one and two, the third game was closely contested early before a sharp momentum shift occurred in favor of
the Owls. With Temple clinging to an 12-10 lead, the Owls' Yamit Haba chased down a deflected attack well beyond the endline and kicked the ball
back over her head. Her teammates converted the miraculous save into a kill and Temple cruised to a 30-15 victory.
The Owls will have plenty of time to savor their victory as the next match on the schedule is a home contest against non-conference opponent William & Mary on Monday, October 14 at McGonigle Hall. Match time is 5:00 p.m.
