TEMPLE FIELD HOCKEY WINS FOURTH IN A ROW WITH 2-1 WIN OVER VCU

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple field hockey team (5-6) won it's fourth game in a row defeating Virginia Commonwealth (4-6) 2-1 in Richmond, Virginia. Junior Melissa DeCesaris scored the game-winning goal, her fourth game-wining goal of the season with 2:13 remaining in the second half off an assists from juniors Rachel Kasper (Hunlock Creek, Pa./Lake Lehman) and Haley Dervinis (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West). Temple has won five of their last seven games.
The Rams opened the scoring with a goal by Lauren Sparrow off an assist by Tavris Parker 2:46 into the second half giving VCU a 1-0 lead. Rams goalie Abby Stiles had four saves in the loss.
Junior Morgan Faria (South Dartmouth, Mass./ Dartmouth) scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Andrea Duva (Kennett, Square, Pa/ Unionville) tying the score 1-1 with 13:24 remaining in the second half. DeCesaris, the Owls leading scorer (six goals and one assist) with 13 points, scored with 2:13 remaining in the contest. Owls goalie Erin Conroy (Centereach, NY. /Centereach) raised her record to 3-5 had four saves.
The Owls (5-6) will look to extend their winning streak against Penn on Wednesday, October 9 at 7p.m.
