WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WINS ATLANTIC 10 REGUALR SEASON TITLE WITH 3-0 SWEEP OF DAYTON

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University women's volleyball team (23-6, 13-1 A-10) secured the Atlantic10 Conference regular season volleyball title with a 3-0 win over the Dayton Flyers this afternoon, November 16, 2002 at Dayton's Fredricks Center. The games scores were 30-23, 30-25, and 30-26. Temple finished 23-7 overall this season and 13-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The victory guaranteed the Owls the first seed in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championships.

In the game, the Cherry and White were led by outside hitter Xu Yun with 16 kills and 11 digs and outside hitter Liu Shu with 11 kills and four digs. Junior Yamit Haba had seven kills and 13 digs while Charity Hill posted seven kills and 11 digs. Setter Alison Runk had 38 assists in the win.

Dayton was led by outside hitter Susan Westbrook with 12 kills and one dig while Erin Treadway had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Setter Kelly Scott contributed 18 assists. The Flyers will enter next weekend's tournament as the second seed.

It's now a waiting game for the Owls as they wait to see who they face in Atlantic 10 championship action next weekend.
