FIELD HOCKEY'S DERVINIS AND GONZALEZ NAMED TO 2002 ALL-PHILLY FIELD HOCKEY TEAM

Philadelphia- Haley Dervinis and Virginia Gonzalez were named to the 2002 All-Philadelphia Field Hockey Team. The All Philadelphia team is an effort to increase recognition of the talent and the competitiveness of the field hockey players and programs in Philadelphia.

Dervinis (Larksville, Pa. /Wyoming Valley West) a junior midfielder started all 19 games this season recorded 13 points (1 goal and 11 assist). She led the Owls in assist with 11 and was the third leading scorer on the team with (one goal and 11 assists) 13 points. Gonzalez (Reading, Pa/Twin Valley), a senior back started all 18 games in which she appeared. She had five points on the season (two goals and one assist).and was second on the team with two game-winning goals this season.

Coaches voted for the top-three players, in rank order, from the opposing team. A total of 36 different players received votes. The top two players and the most-voted goalkeeper from each university comprise the All-Philadelphia Team.

The Owls finished the season with a 9-10 record and 2-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference narrowly missing Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament.
