Temple (0-1), under the direction of 21st-year head coach John Chaney, seeks its first win of the season when it travels down tobacco road to take on Atlantic Coast Conference member Wake Forest, under the leadership of second-year head coach Skip Prosser, at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Sunday's game is the first of a three-game road swing in four days for the Owls featuring the Demon Deacons, South Carolina and Charlotte.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:47 p.m. The game can be seen on CN8 in the Philadelphia region and on Fox SportsNet nationally.

Prosser is a familar face to the Owls, after having served as head coach at Xavier, an Atlantic 10 school, from 1994-95 to 2000-01. During his tenure at XU, Prosser posted a 4-5 mark against Temple.

For the first time on North Broad Street, Chaney has three true freshmen in the starting lineup in forward Antwayne Robinson, guard Maurice Collins and center Keith Butler. Only once before under Chaney has Temple started three first-year players, which happened during the 1996-97 season when freshmen Pepe Sanchez and Lamont Barnes started along side first-year sophomore Rasheed Brokenborough to help lead TU to a 20-11 record and an NCAA Tournament berth.

The Owls are coming off a 59-53 season-opening loss to Rutgers last Sunday afternoon at the Liacouras Center. David Hawkins led the team with 21 points. TU uncharacteristically committed 18 turnovers and was both out-shot (.393-.357) and out-rebounded (41-33) by the Scarlet Knights.

Wake Forest opened its season on Wednesday with a 73-61 win over Yale at home. Senior All-America candidate Josh Howard scored 18 points to lead five Deacons in double digits.

This is the first season in John Chaney's career at Temple that the Owls will not participate in a regular season tournament.
