Senior guard Lynn Greer scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Temple men's basketball team to a 65-62 National Invitation Tournament win over Louisville before a capacity crowd of 19,046 at Freedom Hall on Tuesday.
The victory gives the Owls (17-14) the right to play the quarterfinal round of the NIT, where they will host Philadelphia Big 5 rival Villanova at the Liacouras Center on Friday (Mar. 22) at 7:00 p.m.
Greer, who scored 20 of his points in the second half returned to the floor after injuring his right ankle to connect on two key free throws with just 27 seconds left to seal the win. Senior center Kevin Lyde added 12 points and five rebounds and sophomore guard David Hawkins 11 points and seven rebounds in the win.
Tickets for the Friday night match-up with Villanova will go on sale at the Temple Univertsity Athletic Ticket Office at 9 a.m. Wednesday. For further information, call (215) 204-TIXX.
