OWLS LOSE SEASON-OPENER 2-1 IN OVERTIME LEHIGH

PHILADELPHIA- Temple field hockey team lost 2-1 in overtime to Lehigh at Geasey Field. The Mountain Hawks forward Kristi Miller scored the winning -goal with 6:01 remaining in overtime. The loss drops the Owls' record to 0-1.

Temple tied the game on an assisted goal by junior Melissa DeCesaris (Shavertown, Pa./Lake Lehman) at 16:02 of the first half, junior midfielders Haley Dervinis (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and Rachel Kasper (Hunlock Creek, Pa./Lake Lehman) were credited with an assist on the play.

Sophomore Mary Beth Zakrewski (made her first start in goal made two saves. She was replaced at the half by junior net minder Erin Conroy (New York, NY. /Centereach) had 1 save.

Lehigh freshman forward Marissa Iannarone scored on an assist by Emily Biel.

Temple (0-1) will host Iowa next week in the first game of the Temple Invitational Classic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Geasey field. Louisville and North Carolina will play in the second game of the Tournament at 1:30 p.m.
