TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL LOSES TO SACRAMENTO STATE

Storrs, Conn. - The Temple University volleyball team (2-2, 0-0) lost a five-game match for the second time in two days when it fell to Sacramento State (5-1, 0-0) 3-2 on September 7 at the IKON Husky Classic on the campus of the University of Connecticut. The game scores were 30-26, 30-22, 22-30, 28-30 and 8-15 as the Owls started strong and faded late in the match.

Junior Xu Yun led Temple with 21 kills and 16 digs. Fellow junior Margaret Majewska also had a double-double with 13 kills and 23 digs. Juniors Liu Shu (14 kills) and Charity Hill (12 kills) were also key contributors for the Owls. Sophomore Alison Runk was the primary setter with 45 assists.

Loretta Coffman led Sacramento State with 15 kills and 11 digs. Jayme Wright (14 kills, 19 digs) was also aggressive at the net. Lisa Beauchene notched a game-high 47 assists for Sacramento State.

Temple will finish its play at the IKON Husky Classic with a match against University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 5:00 p.m.
