TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO UCONN 3-2 IN IKON HUSKY CLASSIC OPENER

STORRS, CT - The Temple University volleyball team (2-1, 0-0)lost its first match of the season to the host University of Connecticut (2-2, 0-0) 3-2 on September 6 at the IKON Husky Classic. The game scores were 28-30, 34-32, 27-30, 30-21 and 13-15 in the hard fought five game match.

Junior Margaret Majewska, who recorded her first double-double of the season with 23 kills and 19 digs led the Owls. Three other Temple players posted double-doubles as well. Liu Shu had 14 kills and 16 digs, Xu Yun had 20 kills and 16 digs and Solana Lee had 32 assists and 11 digs.

Connecticut was led by sophomore Jamie Hadenfeldt who had 15 kills and 20 digs, both career highs. Senior Melissa Wooley (18 kills, 23 digs) and junior Julie Erbez (37 assists and 14 digs) were also key contributors for the Huskies.

As a team, Temple recorded 77 kills, 21 blocks and 108 digs while the Huskies recorded 61 kills, 26 blocks and 99 digs in the five game match.

Temple faces Sacramento State at noon on September 7 to kickoff day two of the IKON Husky Classic. The Owls will also play a 5:00 p.m. match against University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
