OWLS LOSE 4-0 TO NORTH CAROLINA, LOUISVILLE TAKES TEMPLE TOURNAMENT TITLE

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple lost 4-0 to national field hockey power North Carolina in the consolation game of the Temple Invitational Tournament.The loss drops the Owls' record to 0-3 while the win lifts the Tarheels' record 2-2 overall. Louisville defeated Iowa in the championship game 3-1 to win the Tournament title. North Carolina had won nine straight Temple Invitational titles.

The score was 1-0 at the half as the Owls goalkeeper Erin Conroy (Centereach, NY/ Centereach) was spectacular in the first half with five saves and finished the game with 14 saves.

North Carolina's Kerry Falgowski scored the first two goals of the contest. Laura Douglas and Stephanie Fuller added the final two goals. North Carolina goalkeeper Amy Tran had three saves

Temple (0-3) will visit Penn State on Friday, September 13 at 5p,m. Temple's next home game is on Sunday when they will host Hofstra at 12 noon.
