The victory was Temple's sixteenth straight over Fordham. The Rams have never beaten a John Chaney coached team in 15 attempts.
Temple led the contest from start to finish. A pair of Antywane Robinson free throws just under three minutes into the contest gave the Owls an early, 7-0 advantage. The Owls' lead reached double digits on a David Hawkins lay-up to make the score 18-7 with 13:03 remaining in the opening stanza. TU's largest advantage of the first half was 17 points after an Alex Wesby three-pointer registered a 36-19 score with 2:35 showing on the clock.
The Owls entered the locker room at the midpoint with a 36-22 lead, its largest halftime advantage of the season. Temple shot 36.8 percent (14-38) from the field prior to the break, while Fordham deposited just 25.9 percent (7-27) of its attempts.
The Owls continued to impose their will after returning from the locker room. A Wesby jump shot with 13:39 remaining extended the lead to 21 (47-26) before it reached 30 points (71-41) on a Nile Murry free throw with 3:20 on the clock. Temple's largest advantage was 34 points, coming on a Chris Gaither lay-up which made the score 76-42 with 1:51 left.
Wesby paced the Owls in the scoring column with 18 points while shooting eight-of-fifteen from the field. Hawkins (16) and Brian Polk (14) also reached double digits for the home squad. Freshman center Keith Butler made a career-high six blocks.
Jermaine Anderson was the only Fordham player in double digits, scoring 11 points.
Temple returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, Jan. 22 in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Rhode Island.
