Temple (3-9, 1-1) seeks its first Atlantic 10 Conference road win of the season in a 8:00 p.m. game at Richmond (7-5, 1-1) on Saturday, Jan. 11. Junior guard David Hawkins needs just three points against the Spiders to become the 39th Owl in the history of the program to reach the 1,000-point career scoring plateau.

Saturday's contest will be televised nationally on ESPN2. It is one of eight Temple games this season that can be viewed across the country and one of 21 to be televised.

Temple and Richmond are meeting for the sixth time on the hardwood in a series that dates back to 1955, with the Owls holding a 3-2 advantage in victories. The Spiders defeated the Owls 75-68 last January 23 at the Liacouras Center in the teams first meeting since a 77-64 Temple victory in a second round 1991 NCAA Tournament game.

Temple is coming off a 61-54 loss at Duquesne on Wednesday, breaking a string of eight straight victories over the Dukes dating back to 1995. The Owls committed 16 turnovers and shot just 32.1 percent (18-56), including a 25.9 (7-27) mark in the first half. The Dukes scored 17 of the game's final 27 points to secure the win.

Richmond is coming off a 67-59 win at No. 22-ranked Xavier to gain its first win over the Musketeers in four attempts. The Spiders out-scored Xavier 39-22 in the second half after trailing 37-28 at the midpoint. XU committed 16 turnovers and shot just 33.3 percent (23-69).

Temple and Richmond have faced two common opponents this season. The Spiders defeated Charlotte 64-60 at home in overtime on Nov. 30 while the Owls suffered a 91-80 defeat versus the 49ers in Charlotte on Dec. 4. Temple lost 83-76 at Wake Forest on Dec. 1 while Richmond hosted the Demon Deacons on Jan. 4, losing 68-62.
