MEN'S BASKETBALL TO TAKE PART IN COACHES VS. CANCER PHILLY SIX OPEN PRACTICE ON NOVEMBER 1. TIME SWITCHED FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 11:00 A.M.

Each team -- Drexel, La Salle, Penn, Temple, Villanova and Saint Joseph's - will hold a 45-minute open practice that will include drills, special plays, coaching tips and a special "play of the day" demonstration. Coaches and players will also be available for autographs at the conclusion of each practice.
Temple, under the direction of Hall of Fame head coach John Chaney, will open the session, taking the floor from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. The Owls will be followed by Villanova at noon, La Salle at 1:00 p.m., Saint Joseph's at 2:00 p.m., Penn at 3:00 p.m. and Drexel at 4:00 p.m.
College basketball coaches nationwide have united with the American Cancer Society to beat cancer. Since its inception in 1993, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $16 million for cancer research, tobacco education and patient services for the American Cancer Society.
Temple opens the 2003-04 season with an exhibition game on November 6 at McGonigle Hall at 8:00 p.m. The Temple women's team, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Dawn Staley, will also play Basketball Travelers in the first game of a women's-men's doubleheader. Tip-off for that contest is 6:00 p.m.
