SAINT JOSEPH'S TOPS FIELD HOCKEY, 2-1 TO SET UP A REMATCH IN THE A-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Field hockey team was defeated by Saint Joseph's 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in its regular season finale at Geasey Field. The Hawks sophomore Kaitlyn O'Brien had a goal and an assist to help Saint Joseph's capture the # 3 seed in the A-10 Field Hockey Championships and set up a rematch of the two teams on Friday at the host Saint Joseph's Finnesey Field.

The win improves the Hawks' record to 7-11, 3-3 in A-10 play while the Owls fall to 10-10, (4-2 A-10). Eighteen of the Owls' 20 games have been decided by one goal this season.

After a scoreless first half the Hawks' Lauren Luft opened the scoring with 12:04 remaining in the second half off a pass from O' Brien giving Saint Joseph's a 1-0 lead.

Just over two minutes later Temple's Lindsay Holman followed with an unassisted goal to tie the score at 1-1 with 10:06 remaining.

O'Brien scored the winner with 4:30 left off a pass from freshman Nicole Antonini to lift the Hawks to the win.

Owls goalie Erin Conroy had 12 saves while the Hawks goalie Courtney Huff was spectacular with 21 saves.

Temple out-shot Saint Joseph's 30-17, and held an advantage in penalty corners, 20-3.

The Owls, who clinched the two seed in the A-10 Field Hockey Championships, will take on the host Saint Joseph's in the semifinal round of the A-10 Championships on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Richmond, the top seed, will play #4 seed West Chester at noon.
