PHILADELPHIA - After a two-week layoff, the Temple University men's basketball team travels to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Indiana Hoosiers in a nationally-televised (ESPN2) showdown to tip off the New Year for both programs.

The Owls (3-5), in the second game of a four-game road swing, will look to rebound from a 72-66 loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl Classic on December 20. The Cherry and White, without the services of freshman guard Mario Taybron for the remainder of the season, are hopeful that sophomore forward Antywane Robinson will be back from an ankle injury suffered at Arizona State (12/9). Sophomore forward Micheal Blackshear has returned to the fold after being suspended by head coach John Chaney on December 3 for a violation of team rules.

Senior All-America candidate David Hawkins continues to lead the Owls and the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 22.6 average. Sophomore Mardy Collins, who will most likely move to the point guard slot, is the only other Temple player scoring in double figures (13.6 ppg.).

Sophomore guard Bracey Wright leads Indiana (6-4) in scoring with a 22.9 average. Wright, who scored 17 points in last year's meeting with Temple, is coming off his best game as a Hoosier, a career-high 39-point effort in a 79-70 win at North Texas State on December 29. The game was played near his hometown of The Colony, Texas.

The series is tied between the two schools at 4-4, but this is just the second visit to Assembly Hall for the Owls. Indiana won the only meeting in the building, 63-62, on December 6, 1998.
