Senior Alex Wesby, who passed the 1,000-point mark with a 23 point effort up at St. Bonaventure was named Big Five Co-Player of the Week along with Penn guard Tim Begley.

Wesby helped the Owls surprise the Bonnies, nailing three 3-point field goals in the first 6:29 seconds of the game to get out to an early 21-10 lead. After St. Bonaventure cut the lead to 38-32 with 6:34 left before intermission, the Owls went on a 13-2 run to close out the first half and take a commanding 51-34 lead at the break. Wesby led the Owls with 14 first-half points, including five of their last seven points.

His three-point field with 17:33 left in the game, gave Alex 1,001 career points and made him the 40th Owl to reach that plateau.

It's Wesby's second Big Five award of the season. He was named the Big Five Player of the Week back on December 30th for his 26 point effort in the Owls' 71-64 win over No. 10 Indiana on December 28th.

The Owls return to the hardwood on Saturday, February 8th when they travel up to Amherst to take on UMass in a game to be televised on ESPN. Tipoff is slated for 12:00 Noon.
