OWLS TO FACE DREXEL AT HOME IN FIRST ROUND OF NATIONAL INVITATION TOURNAMENT
3.17.03 | Men's Basketball
John Chaney's Temple Owls (15-15), on the strength of its run to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Finals, received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament and were awarded a home game. Temple will face Drexel (19-11) on Tuesday night at the Liacouras Center in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
It will be the 20th straight post-season appearance for the Owls. Last season, Temple finished third in the National Invitation Tournament, losing a heart-breaker in the semi-finals to eventual champion Memphis, 78-77, before defeating Syracuse, 65-54, in the consolation game.
The Owls, who needed to win two games in the A-10 Tournament to qualify for post season play, did just that. They defeated Richmond in the quarterfinals and then upset No. 1 seeded Xavier before bowing to Dayton in the finals.
