As a senior at Temple, the kinesiology major played in 18 games while starting in 16 contests. She scored a total of 11 points, including five goals and tallied the game-winning goal in the Owls' 2-1 win against Ursinus at Geasy Field on September 1, 2001.
At Towson, Engestrom was named first team Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American and in 2001 she was selected to the USFHA B camp and A camp. She also played for the Philadelphia Fury in the 2000 USFHA summer league.
Chosen by a panel of U.S. Field Hockey selectors at the open trial, the team includes veteran members of last year's World Cup team as well as five athletes, one being Engestrom, looking to make their first international appearances in 2003.
The U.S. National Team is currently participating in a residency program where the team lives and trains daily in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In addition to training in Virginia, the team will be travelling to Japan and Cuba for two months to gain experience and become familiar with the international competition to come.
