FIELD HOCKEY:11 OWLS EARN 2002 NFHCA DIVISION I NATIONAL ACADEMIC HONORS

3.5.03 | Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team had 11 members named to the Division I All-Academic Team from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The freshmen are Rachel Barber, Lindsey Walker and Dannon Mehaffey. The sophomores are Kelly Walsh, Ashley Shepps, Andrea Duva, Haley Dervinis and Regina Roddy. The seniors are Virginia Gonzalez and Emily Moyer.

Barber appeared in 14 games for the Owls, starting one; She scored four points on the season. Mehaffey appeared in 16 games for the Owls. Walsh started all 19 games for Temple, including two shots on goal. Shepps appeared in 13 games for the Temple, with nine starts, she also had five shots on goal. Duva appeared in 19 games for the Owls with 14 starts, she had four points. Dervinis appeared in 19 games with 19 starts, she was third on the team with 13 points. Roddy appeared in 17 games with six starts. Gonzalez appeared in 18 games for the Owls with, 18 starts, she scored five points on the season. Moyer appeared in 19 games for Temple with 19 starts; she had one point and had 14 shots on goal.

The Owls finished the 2002 season with a 9-10 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the A-10, narrowly missing the conference postseason.
