HOFSTRA TOPS TEMPLE FIELD HOCKEY IN OVERTIME, 2-1

HEMPSTEAD, NY - The Temple field hockey team suffered its second straight overtime loss in three days on Saturday when the Owls were defeated 2-1 by Hofstra at James M. Stuart Stadium. Hofstra's Kara McEneany scored the winning goal with 10:43 remaining in overtime to send the Owls home with another heart-breaking defeat. The loss drops Temple's record to 3-3 overall while the Pride improves its record to 5-0.

Temple's Susan Nase scored the lone goal of the first half off assists from Haley Dervinis and Monica Jiao with 1:16 left in the half giving the Owls a 1-0 lead at the intermission.

The Pride's Alexandra Alonge scored the lone second half goal with just under 20 minutes left in regulation to send the game into overtime. McEneaney then scored the winner off a penalty corner.

Owls' goalkeeper Erin Conroy had eight saves and Hofstra's keeper Jessica Cowperthwaite posted three saves in the contest.

All three of Temple's losses this season were to undefeated teams and two of its three losses were to teams ranked in the top five in the nation (#2 North Carolina and #4 Penn State).

The Owls (3-3) will next visit Iowa on Saturday, September 20.
