#15 DELAWARE DEFEATS FIELD HOCKEY, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team lost its fourth game of the season to a Top 15 team as it was defeated 2-1 by #15 Delaware on Wednesday afternoon at Geasey Field. Delaware's Jessica Breault had a goal and an assist as the Blue Hens scored two first half goals and held off a late Owls comeback attempt to preserve the victory. The win improves Delaware's record to 7-2, while the Owls fell to 4-5 overall.

Delaware's Lauren Carr opened the scoring with a goal from an assist by Breault nine minutes into the game. Breault followed with the game-winner with 4:58 left in the first half off an assist from Katie Evans to give the Blue Hens a 2-0 lead at the half.

Temple sophomore Rachel Barber scored the lone goal of the second half off an assist from sophomore Talia Ruth with 3:18 left in the contest.The Owls made a furious comeback attempt in the last three minutes but were held off by the Blue Hens' defense.

Owls goalkeeper Erin Conroy had six saves and Delaware keeper Megan Allen had two saves.

The Blue Hens out-shot the Owls, 12-4, while Temple held a slight advantage in penalty corners, 5-3.

Temple will next host Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday, September, 27 at 12:00 p.m.
