PHILADELPHIA - Temple University and Villanova University have reached an agreement to play their Philadelphia Big Five men's basketball game at the Liacouras Center on Friday morning, November 21 at 12:01 a.m. The contest will serve as the 2003-04 season opener for the men's basketball programs of both universities.

"The fact that our two universities could come together and find common ground just proves that the spirit of the Big Five is alive and well," stated Temple Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. "This is an important game, not only to the fans of both institutions, but also to the city of Philadelphia. No other city can boast the unique relationship that Philadelphia has among its Division One institutions, and this agreement is further proof of the special bond that is the Big Five.

""What better way to tip-off the college basketball season than with Villanova and Temple playing at Midnight."

Temple will announce its full 2003-04 men's basketball schedule later this month.
