PHILADELPHIA - Two and counting. That is how many wins Hall of Fame coach John Chaney needs to reach the 700 career victory milestone as his team enters play against the Richmond Spiders at the Liacouras Center on Saturday, January 17 (7:30 p.m./CN8). Number 699 will not come easily, however, as Richmond arrives in Philadelphia with an 8-8 mark (1-3 A-10)and looking to snap a three-game losing skid.

The Spiders, under the direction of second-year head coach Jerry Wainwright, posted two three-game win streaks, one at the start of the season and one just prior to their current skid, to open with an 8-5 record. UR has the fourth-highest RPI (59) in the Atlantic 10 Conference and its strength of schedule is second in the league (11). Temple tops the A-10 in strength of schedule (7) and boasts a 77 RPI, up from 99 following its win over Rhode Island.

Senior Mike Skrocki leads the Spiders with a 16.4 average while fellow senior Tony Dobbins also scores in double figures (11.4 ppg.). Dobbins also leads the team in rebounding (7.8 rpg.) and steals (49).

Senior All-America candidate David Hawkins continues is one-man offensive show for the Owls. The 6-5 guard ranks second in the A-10 and ninth nationally in scoring (23.0 ppg.). He has tallied 20 or more points in seven straight games and has led the team in 10 of its 12 contests.

Temple, 5-7, 1-2 in A-10 play, leads the series, 4-3, but Richmond has won two of the three encounters since joining the A-10.
