MEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO DAYTON FOR REMATCH OF 2003 A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
1.9.04 | Men's Basketball
Dayton is off to a solid start, 11-3, 1-0, under new head coach Brian Gregory. The Flyers won their first nine games and cracked the Top 25 before Christmas. The team then hit a skid, losing three of four games prior to its Atlantic 10 Conference opener, a 76-72 home win over St. Bonaventure on January 7.
Senior guard Ramond Marshall leads UD with a 14.8 scoring average and ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with a 5.50 assist average. Senior center Sean Finn (14.0 ppg., 7.3 rpg.) and senior forward Keith Waleskowski (12.6 ppg., 9.9 rpg.) provide the Flyers with perhaps the most imposing frontline in the league.
Senior All-America candidate David Hawkins continues to lead Temple, and ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with a 22.6 scoring average. Sophomore Mardy Collins (12.9 ppg.), who moved to the point guard slot last game, and freshman Dustin Salisbery (10.2 ppg.) also are tallying on double figure for the Owls.
Temple is playing its final game of a four-game road swing. The Owls will return home next week to take on Rhode Island (1/14) and Richmond (1/17) in a two-game homestand.
