WEST CHESTER, PA.- The Temple field hockey team used a smothering defense in a 2-0 win over West Chester on Sunday afternoon in a key A-10 battle. The win levels the Owls' record at 9-9, 3-2 in the A-10 while the Rams' record falls to 3-13, 2-3 in the A-10.Temple held West Chester to two shots in the contest.
Temple junior Melissa Fritze tallied the lone goal of the first half off a feed from freshman Alli Lokey in the 31st minute.
Sophomore Monica Jiao sealed the win for the Owls with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute.
Temple goalie Erin Conroy had two saves in earning her third shutout of the season while the Rams keeper Carrie Hanshue posted seven saves.
The Owls out-shot West Chester, 9-2 while holding a, 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Temple visits Saint Joseph's on Saturday (Oct.30) in the season finale at noon.
