PHILADELPHIA - Holly Cram tallied a goal and two assists to lead #11 Richmond to a 4-0 win over Temple in a rematch of last season's Atlantic 10 Championship game Saturday afternoon at Geasey Field. The win improved the Spiders' record to 9-2, 1-0 A-10, while the Owls dropped 6-6; 0-1 A-10.
Richmond, the two-time defending A-10 Champions, dominated on the offensive end of the field, limiting Temple to one shot in the game. Richmond opened the scoring on a Cram goal 1:56 into the contest. Allie Howard added a goal in the sixth minute off an assist from Cram. Laura Hur scored a goal in the 28th minute to give the Spiders a 3-0 lead at intermission.
Danica Haupt posted the Spiders' final goal in the 58th minute on a penalty corner off Cram's second assists of the game.
Richmond goalie Michelle Swartz had no saves in earning her sixth shutout of the season.
Temple Erin Conroy had 16 saves in 70 minutes of action.
Five of the Owls' six losses have come to teams currently in the Top 20 (#20 Maine, #19 Penn State, #14 Delaware, #11 Richmond and #7 American). Temple has defeated one Top 20 team this season, current #15 Syracuse, 4-3 in overtime, on August 29 at home.
Next the Owls will visit crosstown rival Penn on Wednesday (Oct. 13). The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
