PHILADELPHIA -- Sergio Olmos, a 6-10, 220-pound forward/center out of Vicente Blasco Ibanez School in Valencia, Spain, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Temple University.
Olmos, who first became interested in the Owls after watching former Temple standout and Olympic Gold Medalist Pepe Sanchez play in Spain last year, averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last year at Vicente Blasco Ibanez. The Elda, Spain native also competed at the 2004 Albert Schweitzer International Games as a member of Spain's 18-and-under National Team that finished third behind Turkey and Argentina.
"Sergio is a young man out of Spain that our staff thinks is going to be able to help us in the future" said Hall of Fame head coach John Chaney.
Olmos will enroll at Temple for the spring semester, but will not compete with the team until the 2005-06 season.
