COLLINS NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM AT A-10 MEDIA DAY

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University junior guard Mardy Collins was named to the preseason first team All-Atlantic 10 Conference team voted on by the league's coaches and media it was announced Thursday at the conference's media day held at Philadelphia's Wyndham Franklin Plaza. As a team, the Owls were picked to finish second in the A-10 East behind city-rival Saint Joseph's.
Collins, the second-leading returning scorer in the Atlantic 10 with a 15.5 average, was the lone Temple player to earn preseason all-conference honors. Freshman Mark Tyndale, a 6-5 guard out of Simon Gratz High, did earn a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie squad.
The Owls, which finished the 2003-04 campaign with a 15-14 record and extended their postseason string under Hall of Fame coach John Chaney to 21 straight seasons, open the 2004-05 slate with a home game against Auburn on November 19 (7:00 p.m.).
