COLLINS CLAIMS FIRST BIG 5 PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University junior Mardy Collins earned his first-ever Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week honor for the week ending December 12. Collins averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 steals and 4.0 assists per game as the Owls split two games during the week.

In a 52-51 win over Penn at the Liacouras Center on December 8, Collins scored a game-high 20 points, made three steals and deposited the game-winning free throws with four seconds to play. Against #18 Alabama (Dec. 11), Collins scored 17 points and had six steals while playing 40 minutes for the third straight contest.

For the year, the Philadelphia native (Simon Gratz) leads the team in scoring (15.0 ppg.) and assists (4.6 apg.), and the Atlantic 10 Conference in steals (3.4 spg.).  He has scored in double figures in 25 straight games.
