SENIORS TO GET SHRIER BOBBLEHEAD ON MEN'S BASKETBALL SENIOR DAY
2.20.04 | Men's Basketball
"Al Shrier is a Temple institution," stated Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. "He has done so much for this University and touched the lives of so many that it is with great pride that we take the time to honor him with this kind of tribute."
Besides the Al Shrier bobblehead, fans named "Al" will be able to purchase 50-cent tickets to the Temple-Xavier game. In addition, anyone 50-or-older will be able to purchase tickets for $6.00. All discounted tickets must be purchased at the Liacouras Center ticket windows. Also, all the on-court promotion contestants during the contest will be 50 years of age or older.
Shrier, a member of the Temple University, Philadelphia Big Five, Pennsylvania Sports, Jewish Sports and CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Hall of Fames, started his SID career immediately following his graduation from Temple in 1953. He has been on the North Broad Street campus ever since, and currently serves as Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics. The media room of Temple's on-campus basketball arena, the Liacouras Center, bears his name, one of the many honors he has received in a career of service to student-athletes. Besides his work at Temple, Shrier has been involved in various organizations, and currently serves as the President of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association.
