DAVID HAWKINS NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN BY CBS SPORTSLINE

The third all-time leading scorer in Temple history with 2,032 points, Hawkins has posted 664 this season, 11th most in the school annals. The Washington, D.C. native has scored 20 or more points in a program-record 23 games this season. Hawkins also ranks tied for seventh nationally in steals with 2.7 per contest. He enters this week's conference tournament playing an average of 38.9 minutes-per-game.
Hawkins earned his third A-10 Player of the Week this past Sunday after averaging 29.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals in three games. Against Fordham on February 29, he had 16 points, seven boards, and three steals in a 74-60 win. He then tallied a career-high 41 points to go with seven rebounds and five steals as the Owls took a 98-92 double overtime decision from Massachusetts on Mar. 3. Hawkins scored Temple's final 17 points in the second overtime to become just the 10th player in A-10 history to score 2,000 career points. He capped his week by celebrating his Senior Day with a game-high 31 points as well as five rebounds in a 70-69 loss to Xavier on Mar. 6.
Temple (15-12, 9-7) travels to Dayton, Ohio this week for the A-10 Championships. By securing the East Division's second seed, the Owls earned an opening round bye and will play in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 11 at approximately 9:00 p.m. in a game televised on CN8. Temple plays the winner of the West No. 3 seed (Richmond) versus the East No. 6 seed (Fordham), who play Wednesday at approximately 9:00 p.m.
