AMERICAN DEFEATS FIELD HOCKEY, 4-2

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season 4-2, in the Temple Tournament. American was led by sophomore Camilla Infante, who had two assists as four different Eagles scored goals in the contest.

American flew out to a three goal lead in the first half before Temple sophomore Dannon Mehaffey scored an unassisted goal to narrow the to 3-1 at intermission. The Eagles Javierra Villagra scored an unassisted goal 10 minutes in to the second half to seal the win. The Win was the Eagles first over Temple in 11 tries.

Temple junior Rachel Barber added a late second half goal to cap the scoring at 4-2.

Owls goalie Erin Conroy posted 24 saves; 16 of her 24 saves were in the first half. American net minder Allison Fayfich had nine saves. The Eagles out-shot the Owls 35-9, while also holding a 9-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Temple (2-1) will host Iowa in the consolation game at 11:00 am on Sunday. American (2-1) meet North Carolina (3-0) , who defeated Iowa in the second game, 1-0. The Tar Heels have won the Temple Tournament 11 of the last 12 years.
