IOWA DOWNS FIELD HOCKEY, 5-1, IN CONSOLATION GAME

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team lost 5-1 to Iowa in the consolation game of the Temple Tournament on a breezy Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field. Senior Sarah Dawson led Iowa with two goals and two assists as the Hawkeyes scored five goals in the game's first 27 minutes.

Temple freshman Ashley Bird scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute completing the scoring as there was no scoring in the second half.

Temple's Erin Conroy had five saves in the cage while junior Sandra Becker recorded three saves over the 21 minutes of action. Iowa goalie Barb Weinberg had six saves.

Iowa out-shot the Owls, 13-7, while Temple held a 7-2 advantage in penalty corners.

North Carolina defeated American in the championship game 2-0.

Temple (2-2) will hit the road playing a pair of games next weekend at Fairfield. On Saturday the Owls will meet Maine and on Sunday they will take on Fairfield at noon.
