COLLINS, TYNDALE EARN ATLANTIC 10 HONORS

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University's starting backcourt of junior Mardy Collins and freshman Mark Tyndale earned Atlantic 10 Conference co-Player and Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending January 22. Collins shared his award with Dayton sophomore forward Monty Scott while Tyndale shared his honor with Fordham forward Bryant Dunston.

Collins earned his fourth A-10 Player of the Week award of the season by averaging 19.5 points and 10 rebounds in leading Temple to wins over St. Bonaventure and Xavier. Against SBU (1/19), the Owl co-captain recorded his third double-double of the season, tying for team scoring honors with 17 points while pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds. In the Xavier win, he led Temple with a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds. For the week he shot 16-of-31 from the field (.516).

Tyndale picks up his third A-10 Rookie of the Week citation by averaging 19 points and seven rebounds in the Owls' two wins. The 6-5 guard tied Collins for team scoring honors with 17 points in the St. Bonnies win. He also matched his season high with nine rebounds in the game. Against Xavier, he scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds. For the week he connected on 12-of-20 shots from the field (.600), 3-of-5 from three-point range (.600) and 11-of-14 from the line (.786).
