MARDY COLLINS NAMED OWLSPORTS.COM ATHLETE OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER

PHILADELPHIA - Junior point guard Mardy Collins of the men's basketball team has been named the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for the month of December. Collins averaged team-highs of 19.2 points, 4.2 steals and 3.0 assists in leading the Owls to a 3-2 record for the month.
The Philadelphia native (Simon Gratz) earned the first two Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week citations of his career in December and the second of his two Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honors of his career. The team co-captain scored a season-high 25 points in consecutive games against #5/6 Wake Forest (67-64, loss) and Princeton (48-46, win). Collins also extended his career-best streak of double-figure scoring games to 27 while playing all 200 minutes in the month, extending that streak to 220 minutes played.
For the season, Collins leads the Owls in scoring (17.2 ppg.) and assists (4.2 apg.) while ranking first
