PHILADELPHIA -- Ashley Shepps, a Temple field hockey senior co-captain and defender, has been selected as an alternate for the 2005 NFHCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star, the organization announced today. Game time is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 at the University of Louisville.
Shepps, a Lebanon, PA native, is currently ranked second nationally in defensive saves (7). A starter in all 17 games in 2005, she has recorded one assist and registered seven shots in conjunction with her national ranking.
First year head coach Amanda Janney understands and appreciates the defensive grit and leadership value added to her team by the senior.
"Shepps is such a tough defender. She plays with a lot of intensity every day," said Janney.
The Owls are currently tied for second place in the Atlantic 10 with a 3-1 conference record while posting an 8-9 overall mark.
Temple resumes their conference slate Friday afternoon at home against Rhode Island at 3:00 p.m.
