SHEPPS AND STEVENSON EARN NFHCA ALL-REGIONAL HONORS

11.18.05 | Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA-After leading the Owls to their best season in over a decade, Temple field hockey seniors Ashley Shepps and Katie Stevenson were named to the 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional Team. This is the second post season honor for the senior defenders, who both received Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors earlier this month.

Shepps, named an alternate in the NFHCA North/South All-Star Game, finished the season ranked third nationally in defensive saves with seven while Stevenson provided steady defensive play throughout the season with four. Offensively, Shepps and Stevenson recorded three and two assists, respectively. Shepps was also named to the Atlantic 10's all-academic team while boasting a 3.88 cumulative GPA.

The Owls finished the year with their best conference mark (6-1) since the program's first Atlantic 10 season in 1989, were 11-10 overall and earned the Conference's second seed in the A-10 Championship. Temple drew UMass in the semi-final round and was defeated 2-1 in overtime.
