PHILADELPHIA - Head coach John Chaney's Temple Owls will host Mike Krzyzewski's number-one ranked Duke Blue Devils in a heated match up on the Wachovia Center hardwood on Saturday, February 25 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, December 1 at 10 a.m. at the Wachovia Complex Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations.
"We have a great college basketball schedule at Wachovia Center this year," said Comcast-Spectacor Senior Vice President and General Manager John Page. "We're looking forward to some terrific games, as well as the upcoming NCAA Men's first and second round games."
The February 25th game will be the 24th meeting between the two teams with Duke leading the series 14-9. The Owls have faced Duke four other times when they were ranked number-one, including their last match up at the Wachovia Center on December 2, 2000. The Owls look to avenge that loss (93-68) with a win at this year's game at the Wachovia Center. The Blue Devils last played at the Wachovia Center in 2001, beating USC in the NCAA Men's East Regionals. They went on to win the 2001 NCAA Championship that year, their last men's basketball championship to date.
"It is a great relationship we have with Duke and we are excited about bringing them to Philadelphia," said Temple head coach John Chaney. "We play them at their place and they come up to visit us. Coach Kzyzewski and I have a special friendship and it was nice that we were able to enter the Hall of Fame in the same year."
