5.26.05 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior field hockey player Erin Conroy has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Women's At-Large Second Team, as selected by a vote of the CoSIDA members. A history major, Conroy has maintained a 3.80 grade point average.
Temple's starting goaltender for the past three seasons, Conroy has amassed 483 saves and a 2.10 goals against average in 64 career games. In 2003, she was named Third Team National All-American and First Team Regional All-American after posting 181 saves, the third best tally in the nation and the first in the Atlantic 10. Also an All-Philadelphia selection, Conroy saved 83% of the shots that she faced that season.
Conroy has been just as successful in the classroom, earning recognition for her academic prowess from Temple, the Atlantic 10 and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). In 2001, Conroy was selected to the Atlantic-10's Commissioner's Honor Roll for garnering over a 3.0 grade point average during the 2001-02 academic year. This past season, she was named to the NFHCA Academic All-American team and Temple's Trustee's Honor Roll, which honors the top ten student athlete grade point averages of the academic year.
The Owls finished the season with a 9-11 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the Atlantic 10 before falling to Richmond in the semifinals of the A-10 Tournament.
