PHILADELPHIA -- For the third consecutive game, and fourth time in 2005, the Temple (1-5) field hockey team has dropped a one-goal decision following Villanova's 2-1 Temple Invitational victory Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field.  Temple sophomore midfielder Ashley Bird tallied her first goal of the season in a losing effort.

Bird's unassisted goal, with four and a half minutes remaining, cut the Wildcat lead in half forcing an intense, however scoreless, final sequence.  Improving upon Saturday's offensive attack, the Owls combined to fire 13 shots at Villanova goalkeeper Erin Scott.  Temple allowed several scoring opportunities fall by the wayside including junior Lindsay Holman's first half penalty stroke that sailed wide left.  The Owls dominated corners in the first half amassing five to Villanova's one.

Freshman goalkeeper Erin Hanshue faced 16 Wildcat shots (10 on goal) while steering away eight.  Seniors Ashley Shepps, Katie Stevenson, and sophomore Alli Lokey each recorded defensive saves.

Junior Megan Foster registered both Wildcat goals.  Foster's first of the afternoon came off a corner set up by freshman Julia Noorduyn.  Her second of the game, and sixth of the season, was assisted by juniors Lauren Campanelli and Sara Schmidt.

Junior goalkeeper Erin Scott saved six shots.

The Owls remain at Geasey Field Wednesday afternoon when Penn State visits for a 3:30 p.m. start.
