PHILADELPHIA -- Temple freshman goalkeeper Erin Hanshue has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. In the last ten days, Hanshue has led the Owls on a three-game winning streak all via shutouts against VCU, Delaware, and Longwood.
Hanshue, a red-shirt from a year ago, used a total of five saves in blanking the Fightin' Blue Hens and Lancers this past week. Her scoreless streak has run to a total of 218 consecutive minutes.
In ten games this season, Hanshue, a 2004 Lower Dauphin High School graduate, has posted a 1.79 GAA, has turned away 60 shots, and has recorded a .779 save percentage.
Former Owls' stopper Deb Brown is the last freshman goalkeeper to post three shutouts in one season when she blanked Maine (9/3), Rhode Island (9/25), and Massachusetts (11/6) in 1997.
Hanshue shares the honor with Rhode Island freshman, and Langhorne native, Jamie Adams.
