GEASEY FIELD TO HOST TEMPLE INVITATIONAL

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey home, Geasey Field, will play host to the Temple Invitational this weekend. Villanova, North Carolina, Monmouth, and the Owls will compete in the two-day event to be held Saturday and Sunday.
The Wildcats come into the weekend following three straight wins to start the 2005 season. Villanova has posted 13 goals and 53 shots in just three contests. Junior Megan Foster and senior Rory Rogers have each tallied four goals.
North Carolina, a perennial national powerhouse, has begun the season at 4-0. The Tar Heels are offensively paced by sophomores Alli Tanner (3G, 6P) and Heather Kendell (2G, 4P). Senior goalkeeper Katy Tran has allowed just one goal while posting three shutouts. Head coach Karen Shelton just recently captured her 400th career victory following UNC's 3-1 win over William & Mary.
Monmouth head coach Monica Morgan Levy will look to use the Temple Invitational as a turnaround for her team that has started 0-4. While the first five contests of the 2005 campaign are on the road, the Hawks have dropped three consecutive games decided by one goal. Senior goalkeeper Carrie Colbert has saved 42 shots.
First year head coach Amanda Janney and her Owls will look to snap a three game skid. Junior Lindsay Holman has posted 12 points on six goals in 2005. Sophomore midfielder Alli Lokey leads the team with 14 shots while registering four points (1G, 2A).
The Temple Invitational kicks-off Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with Temple and North Carolina. Sunday's action matches North Carolina and Monmouth at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Owls and Villanova at 3:00 p.m.
Admission to the Temple Invitational can be purchased in a two-day package worth $3 while a one-day pass is $2.
