PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior Wayne Marshall has decided to sit out the entire 2006-07 season. Marshall, who was declared ineligible for the fall semester due to NCAA guidelines on September 1, will concentrate on his health as well as his studies this academic year.

"We are supportive of Wayne's decision and hope that he is able to come back next season healthy and academically sound," said Temple men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy.

Marshall, a 6-11, 285-pound center, averaged. 7.2 points and 4.0 rebounds a game last year. The Philadelphia native (Martin Luther King HS), who played in 24 games with 17 starts, ranked second on the squad with 22 blocked shots while also making 22 steals.

Temple opens its 2006-07 season at Kent State on November 21.
