Christmas Leads Way In Men's Basketball Exhibition Against East Stroudsburg

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball team had its final tune-up prior to its season opener against Kent State on November 21 when it took on Division II East Stroudsburg in an exhibition game/scrimmage. The two teams played six 10-minute periods, with the Owls winning four of the six intervals.
Sophomore Dionte Christmas led all scorers with 26 points. The 6-5 guard hit eight-of-19 field goals, including two-of-eight from three-point range. He dropped in eight-of-nine free throws and also finished with a double-double, pulling in 10 rebounds while playing 36 minutes.
Senior Dustin Salisbery and sophomore Semaj Inge each chipped in 22 points. Inge, who played just 25 minutes, hit nine-of-20 shots, including four-of-six from long-range. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished six assists while committing zero turnovers. Salisbery accumulated his points over 35 minutes of action, hitting six-of-14 from the field and nine-of-10 from the charity stripe. He added seven rebounds.
Junior DaShone Kirkendoll and freshman Ryan Brooks also reached double figures with 12 points each while senior Dion Dacons did yeoman's work on the boards, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds over 18 minutes. He also added a game-high four steals.
Josh Wentz led East Stroudsburg with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Temple shot 42 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 75.6 percent from the free throw line.
The Fran Dunphy Era opens in earnest at Kent State next Tuesday (7:00 p.m./1210 AM). The Owls home opener is slated for Monday, November 27 against Buffalo (7:00 p.m.).
