Dionte Christmas Named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore guard Dionte Christmas was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 2. It is the first league honor for Christmas, who leads the A-10 in scoring (20.5 ppg.) and is tied for first in three-pointers made (3.25 per game) with teammate DaShone Kirkendoll.
The Philadelphia native (Philadelphia Lutheran Christian Academy) averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game in a 2-1 week for the Owls. He shot 23-of-40 (57.5%) from field, 10-of-21 (47.6%) from 3-point range and 14-of-16 (87.5%) from the foul line.
Christmas led Temple in scoring in all three games, setting career highs in points in consecutive contests against Buffalo (23 points) and Rutgers (27 points). He also spearheaded a late run in Buffalo loss, scoring seven of team's points and making two steals in a 9-0 run over final 2:10 of 64-62 loss.
Also named owlsports.com Athlete of the Week, he also ranks fourth in field goal percentage (.565), sixth in free throw percentage (.895) and seventh in three-point percentage (.481).
Temple (2-2) concludes a four-game homestand Tuesday with Western Michigan. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Liacouras Center.
